Social Triangles and Aggressive Lines: Multi-Robot Formations Impact Navigation and Approach
This study investigates how the spatial formations of robots impact human perceptions during navigation and approach scenarios. Four geometric formations were analyzed: wedge, v-shape, horizontal line, and vertical line. Findings indicate that triangle formations (wedge and v-shape) are perceived more positively, being associated with politeness and social inclusion. In contrast, horizontal line formations are seen as threatening and unwelcoming. These results have implications for designing multi-robot systems to enhance task success and human-robot interaction.
